Pet Portraits

“Gorky”

Acrylic paint on 12”x12” museum canvass.

This cute little guy has become a part- time family member at our home.  He is one of our favorite pet sitting clients who wins over the hearts of everyone who meets him. Naturally, he didn’t mind “sitting” while his portrait was painted!

“Maxi”

Maxi is one of those magical creatures who is difficult to describe in words.  She is a friend’s dog who visits me often. When Maxi is at my home she follows me wherever I go. She is a love sponge with the fastest tail in the west.  She loves to be loved!

I hope the love I feel for this marvelous gift to our planet comes through in this 8”x10” acrylic on canvas.

”Blackie”

Acrylic paint on 8”x10”  museum style stretched canvas.

This portrait of a beloved black lab was a surprise Christmas gift from a daughter to her mother.

“””Cholla”

Acrylic on 8”x10” canvas.  “Cholla” is truly a desert dog.  She loves nothing more than going for a run with Dan, her owner, in the desert.  Only 2 years old & a lab mix, she is highly energetic, and very affectionate. She’s a licker who enthusiastically shows her love for you! Sometimes she stays with us, so I surprised Dan with the painting one day. He gave it to his wife who fell in love with it!

“Deb with Audrey and Kali”

Acrylic paint on 18”x24” museum canvass.

Portrait of my daughter and two of our beloved furry, family members.

“Jet”

Acrylic on 30” x 40” museum canvas.

Jet is my son’s extraordinary black lab. His whole life is “all about the ball”.  He never tires of chasing and retrieving the ball!  One time, he chased it so long and hard he actually injured his hip, so how we have to be careful not to let him overdo it! Jet got his name not only because of his jet-black color, but also because his owner is an airline pilot! He’s a joyful and wonderful dog to have around.

 “Rosie & Alice”

Acrylic paint on 16”x20” canvas.   These two little cocker spaniels are owned by two ladies who live down the street from me.  They commissioned me to paint this portrait because Alice (the doggie in the foreground), probable won’t be around much longer. Rosie, in the background is still young. These sisters are the cutest and most joyful, friendly dogs. When I delivered the finished portrait, one of the mommies cried. I received the nicest thank you note from them both.

I love my job! A

“Sammy”

“Mimi”

Acrylic paint on 8”x 10” stretched museum canvass.

Sammy is a beloved Schnauser who enjoyed posing for this one. He is quite the little ham.

Acrylic paint on 8”x10” stretched museum canvas.

Mimi is the princess of the house and her human mother just had to have a portrait of her beloved Mimi to show her off on the fireplace mantle so all who entered their home could admire this little cutie-pie.

“B.C.”

Acrylic paint on 16”x20” museum canvass. “B.C.” is the prized kitty of our neighbor a retired fire battalion chief.  The initials can stand for anything from “Battalion Cat” to “Big Cat”. This guy is our neighbor and quite a character who is a ferocious hunter in the safety of his own back yard.

“Chang”

Acrylic on 18’x24” canvas.                             When I first moved to Tucson 5 years ago, I was alone and wanted company.  That’s when I met and rescued Chang.  He is a retired Greyhound racer, who won a few in his day, who has turned out to be one of the best companions for me. He is a 90-pound love sponge who sleeps about 20 hours a day! Chang is a rug that breathes!  I guess that’s why retired Greyhounds are nicknamed “40 mile-an-hour couch potatoes”!

“Dora”

Acrylic on 16”x20” canvas. Dora, another one of our Greyhound rescues, is our “wild child”! She is a feisty and sprinted tomboy! She is the greeted and friendly playmate of the pack. She loves to rough house and play with all the dogs who visit us.  She posed for this portrait after a hard day at play!
